In a few weeks’ time, stakeholders in the solar thermal sector will gather in Paris for the Solar Heating Conference (EGCS), to work together towards the growth of the industry: gaining insight into the levers currently being implemented, sharing feedback across all segments (from individual systems to large-scale solar projects), discovering techno-economic innovations, and exchanging ideas on collaborative approaches to project development...

BEPOSITIVE is a partner of the Solar Heating Conference, which will take place on 17 June in Paris.

Organised by Enerplan, this annual event brings together French professionals from the solar thermal sector, as well as project developers and regional and national specifiers.

Held in a hybrid format (in-person in Paris and online), this new edition of the Solar Heating Conference will provide an update on the actions underway and the models to be developed in order to achieve the targets of 6 TWh by 2030 and 10 TWh by 2035.

Participants will be able to choose between two parallel workshop tracks in the afternoon:

Large-scale installations track

Solar thermal energy is entering a new phase. Long confined to domestic hot water production, the sector now offers mature and competitive solutions: large-scale installations, hybridisation with other renewable energies, seasonal storage, and more.

France’s Multiannual Energy Programme (PPE) sets a clear trajectory: reaching 6 TWh by 2030 and 10 TWh by 2035, compared with just 1.3 TWh today. Achieving this will require a major scale-up.

For large-scale installations (industry and district heating networks), this means installing 1 million m² per year by 2030 and exceeding 10 million m² installed by 2035.

Where does the sector currently stand? Is it ready to meet this challenge? What techno-economic solutions are available to project developers, and what support mechanisms exist?

This track is primarily aimed at local authorities, regional stakeholders, and professional organisations.

Technology & innovation track

Solar thermal has broadened its range of solutions, with solar-assisted heat pumps and combined solar systems for collective housing.

The sector is working on hybrid solutions combining solar with biomass, heat pumps, and geothermal energy. Hybrid solar-biogas systems are expected to gain traction, in the same way hybrid heat pumps have.

New “de-risked” offers are emerging for project owners, along with innovative solar thermal energy resale models.

This track is primarily aimed at industry professionals and specifiers.

A site visit is also offered free of charge the day before, on Tuesday 16 June in the afternoon, in Paris.

If you are unable to attend in person, you can also join the event online free of charge.
